Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic technical leader responsible for shaping the long-term architecture of our core platform
Mentor and guide engineers to build scalable, reliable, and secure systems
Work across product and engineering teams to ensure our architecture evolves in step with Rula’s business strategy
Prototype and implement foundational services
Lead technical design discussions
Help define engineering best practices that elevate quality across the organization
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Software Architect, with deep expertise in backend technologies
3+ years in a technical leadership role (Staff, Principal, or Architect) for a SaaS product supporting an engineering organization of 25–50+ engineers
Proven experience working cross-functionally and leading through influence across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams
Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture and cloud-based technologies
Deep knowledge of security, performance, scalability, and maintainability best practices in distributed systems
Preferred
Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement innovative technical solutions that improve performance, reliability, or developer experience
Prior experience working in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated industries
Experience in startup or high-growth environments, particularly those scaling from 50–150+ engineers
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences and influence decision-making
