Responsibilities
Engineer manufacturing processes, machinery, support equipment, tooling, and procedures
Create efficient plant layouts to optimize material flow and space utilization
Lead machine construction, component manufacturing, integration, installation, and startup
Manage tasks to meet project timelines and budgets
Investigate and resolve equipment issues using data analysis and root cause methodologies
Research and select automation components and material handling systems
Partner with Fastener Engineering to support new product designs and equipment modifications
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards
Maintain timely reporting, participate in meetings, and manage projects
Develop and improve safe work methods and manufacturing techniques
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
7-10+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing
Demonstrated experience & levels of responsibility in designing and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment
Knowledge and application of engineering and technology skills with a focus on problem-solving, innovation and continuous improvement
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal/external stakeholders
Proficiency in SolidWorks CADD software; AutoCAD experience is a plus
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally periodically. On rare occasions travel may extend a week in duration
Willingness to commute daily to other ITW Construction Chicagoland locations and Northern Illinois machine builders/OEMS dependent on project assignments
Ability to work flexible hours, outside of normal workday, to accommodate meetings with global teams and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's)
Preferred
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and capital projects is a plus
