Engineering and Fabrication Director
Batchelor & Kimball, Inc. is headquartered in Conyers, Georgia, and specializes in engineering and construction services. Responsibilities
Champion development of a manufacturing strategy to produce skidded (repeatable) MEP systems. These systems will be specially targeted during the bid process and developed with the design team. Systems may include, but are not limited to:
Mission critical manufacturing
Hot aisle containment racks
CDU Skids
CRAH Skids
Cooling Tower Skids
Chiller Skids
Umbilical services
Multi-trade racks
Equipment Skids
Multi-service modules
Vertical Risers
Prefabricated Plants
Lead and mentor a group of managers, foreman, and VDC personnel to develop manufactured systems for the following facilities:
Healthcare
Laboratories
Mission Critical
Manufacturing
Complex and exciting unknowns
Collaborate with the preconstruction team to develop and draw piping, duct, insulation, and controls systems from conceptual level information (Bluebeam and / or Revit) for the following facilities:
Healthcare
Laboratories
Mission Critical
Manufacturing
(Again) Complex and exciting unknowns
Evaluate design proposals, engineering plans, equipment and specifications for prefabrication opportunities with the preconstruction and operations team
Present life cycle / cost benefit analysis of various mechanical solutions to owners and contractors
Demonstrate an exhaustive knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IMC, ASHRAE, and other relevant local, state, and federal codes
Strong Leadership Skills
Operates with a continuous improvement mentality
Development and participation in project interviews
Willingly takes ownership and accountability for projects under their direction
Build, Review, and approve manufacturing estimates (labor, material, and subcontractors) to determine allocation of resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish within the fabrication shop
Provide leadership and oversight, internal and external, regarding the successful execution of the manufacturing project workflow and task management with the collective team
In depth understanding of schedule, construction procedures, material procurement, and project management
Maintains manufacturing consistency across all regions
Development and maintenance of Operational KPIs
Development and maintenance of Financial KPIs
Manufacturing drawings, BOMs, schedules, cost, and execution
Develop standard LOD400 and LOD500 skid modules
Verify compliance of all VDC drawings produced for spooling prior to sending them to spooling. Work with the Prefabrication VDC Manager and fabrication facility Superintendent to eliminate waste and drive efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 10 + years of manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong Leadership Skills

In depth understanding of schedule, construction procedures, material procurement, and project management
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
Consistent dependability and availability
Ability to work in a fast-paced construction office environment
Ability to organize and curate documents related work orders and personnel

Mechanical Knowledge
Project Management
Train estimating staff on technical aspects of Consulting Engineering
Understand company resource production capabilities and implement in the construction process
Professionally solicit vendors and suppliers during the procurement process

Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree highly preferred
EIT, Certified Plumbing Designer, or Licensed engineer is a plus
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with Autobid software and Revit
Advanced skills in Excel
Energy modeling proficiency
LEED AP BD+C Certification
Certified Energy Manager
Lean Manufacturing Proficiency
