Security Technician II - Sioux Falls, SD
Beacon Communications is seeking a Security Technician II in Sioux Falls, SD, responsible for advanced installation, testing, and commissioning of security solutions. This role requires greater independence and technical proficiency while mentoring junior staff and supporting project managers.

Responsibilities
Perform installation tasks for security projects, including (but not limited to): pulling cable, installing connectors, wiring and mounting devices, and metal fabrication
Conduct point-to-point testing to verify system functionality
Apply advanced troubleshooting for electrical circuits and system issues
Demonstrate proficiency in field and headend terminations for all systems related to security installations
Mentor and support Installer I and Security Technician I team members
Communicate daily jobsite status updates to Project Manager or Superintendent
Work with manufacturers to initiate Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) as needed
Review equipment lists with customers upon delivery and ensure accuracy
Mark up engineered drawings to reflect site changes and completed tasks
Apply intermediate computer and networking skills, including: Email and MS Office Suite, Company applications (Vista, Labor Chart, etc.), Understanding of IP addressing, subnetting, servers, and basic networking concepts
Maintain safety, organization, and professionalism on all job sites
Support commissioning activities and verify system performance to customer requirements
Participate in jobsite safety meetings and toolbox talks
Consistently maintain punctuality and reliability
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and project leadership
Accurately complete timesheets and required reporting
Demonstrate professionalism in daily interactions with colleagues and clients
Apply computer knowledge to company applications including Email, Vista, and Labor Chart
Accurately manage and submit documentation related to work performed
Fire alarm experience is a plus
Overnight travel as required
Qualification
Required
Certification in one or more Access Control Systems (DNA Fusion, Identiv, Bosch, Lenel, Genetec, ICT, DSX)
Certification in one or more Intrusion Detection Systems (Bosch IDS, Ademco IDS)
Certification in one or more Video Management Systems (3xLogic, Axis, Video Insight, Bosch VMS)
Certification in Video Surveillance Systems
Certification in one or more Intercom Systems (AXIS, Aiphone, Code Blue)
Intermediate networking knowledge and skills
High School Diploma or approved equivalent
Holds OSHA 10 or higher certification
Thorough knowledge of guidelines covering NEC and TIA/EIA standards
Ongoing involvement in Beacons training programs
Maintain a valid drivers license
Requires sitting, prolonged standing, walking, handling, gripping, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead with force
Requires stooping, crouching, crawling, and working on or under floors
Ability to transport ladders up to 12 feet in height and lift ladders off vehicle roof racks
Willing and able to climb and stand on ladders and scaffolding
Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including overhead
Maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements
Submit to vaccinations and screening tests required by customer jobsite protocols
Maintain compliance with company drug and alcohol screening policies
20-50% travel in Rocky Mountain region, as needed
