Marine Electronics Engineer - Machinery Controls

Responsibilities

Help provide engineering technical and management support in studying, analyzing, and evaluating engineering problems, and developing solutions
Assist in the development of contract documentation and the development of technical plans, specifications, cost estimates relating to the various categories of engineering support services, studies provided, and associated reports
Be part of a contract team to assist in the preparation of a wide range of engineering and feasibility studies, providing engineering and technical support for design review, performance feasibility studies, and designs of ships, boat, and shipboard systems in support of existing and future vessel acquisition programs
Conduct design of electric and electronic systems, study power generation and distribution, centralized machinery monitoring and control
Apply knowledge of and experience with engineering principles and techniques to develop and evaluate moderately complex technical reports related to application of C5I systems onboard USCG ships
Review and evaluate the effect of new and/or modified electronics on overall system performance
Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS’s), Request for Waiver (RFW), Engineering Changes (EC’s)
Familiarity with USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations

Required

Minimum of least 8 years' documented experience developing and integrating machinery control systems, electrical power management, auxiliary machinery control, and propulsion control
Must be a U.S. citizen
A secret security clearance

Previous experience with shipboard and defense C5I systems preferred
