MISSION SUPPORT SPECIALIST (FINANCE)

Responsibilities

Applying a range of administrative concepts, laws, policies and analytical methods to ensure compliance, provide technical direction, and address technical issues or problems and procedural requirements
Collaborating with managers to develop final consolidated budget estimates, forecasting for future budget needs and preparing justification for reprogramming of funds or to support the accomplishment of planned operations
Ensuring only authorized personnel receive government travel cards and complete required training certifications as well as monitoring and auditing travel transactions to ensure purchases are authorized
Monitoring the Federal Employee Pay Act (FEPA), Border Patrol Agent Pay Reform Act (BPAPRA) overtime, Holiday worked hours, and Student Aide Funding (if applicable) to ensure usage is within established budgetary allocations and restrictions

Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/05/2025
Experience: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Creating requisitions and purchase orders to ensure budget approval; Analyzing historical data, current spending, future estimates and trends; Monitoring the travel card program to ensure compliance with the Federal Travel Regulations and other applicable regulations and policies; Preparing briefings and reports for management to present findings and recommendations for future budget, procurement, and travel operational needs

Education Substitution: Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a degree from an accredited college or university, a doctoral degree and or LL.M., if related, that demonstrates the skills necessary to do the work
Combining Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level
