Responsibilities

Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance
Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place
Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls
Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including:
Monitoring program technical execution
Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design

Required

Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position
Experience with: System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering
Active U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882
Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment
Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
Master's degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
