Responsibilities
Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documents are properly filed and accessible
Draft legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings related to cases
Conduct legal research on education policies, student rights, and relevant laws at the federal, state, and local levels
Act as a liaison between attorneys and clients, schools, and other individuals by gathering information and scheduling meetings
Assist attorneys with trial preparation, which may include gathering evidence, preparing witness lists, and attending hearings
Help ensure compliance with education laws, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Title IX, by gathering records and preparing documentation for meetings like IEPs
Qualification
Required
Understanding of legal procedures and education laws
Competency in legal software and e-filing systems is often required
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse clients and colleagues
Ability to conduct thorough research and synthesize information for attorneys
Accuracy is critical when handling sensitive and complex legal matters
