Responsibilities
Oversee shop floor welding technician activities
Review customer specifications, identify welding requirements and ask for clarification on those requirements that differ from TEi standards
Identify welding procedures to be used on each project and included in the Approved Procedures Listing (APL)
Perform R&D on new welding techniques, equipment, processes, etc., for increased efficiency
Monitor welder performance and provide corrective action when performance issues arise
Oversee welding related training to all welders, fitters and assemblers as required
Monitor inventory of weld filler metal and PO requisitions for project specific specialty materials as required
Provide weld efficiency rates to Sales for quoting and estimating data
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree of Engineering or Science
3-5 years working experience in related field
Knowledge of general steel fabrication practices and processes
Knowledge and experience in technical writing
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Must be organized and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge of general steel fabrication practices, particularly welding, heat treatment, and mechanical testing
Knowledge of relevant manufacturing codes including ASME Section I, VIII, B31.1, API specifications
Preferred
Welding or Metallurgy degree
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials
ASME Section III knowledge and experience is a plus
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio or equivalent process flow software
