Responsibilities

On a regular and recurring basis, leads three or more aircraft mechanics, crew chiefs, and specialist personnel performing work in the inspection docks
Monitors the work of assigned personnel, sets the pace, passes along assignments, and assures that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Works along with aircraft mechanics and specialist personnel performing journeyman work as required
Insures that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities. Checks work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc. Serves as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives. Ensures that safety, housekeeping, security and other environmental rules are followed
Advises the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). As requested by the supervisor, provides functional planning for the inspection docks. On a daily basis, recommends adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements

Required

Military membership in the Nebraska National Guard Membership is required
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Obtain/maintain the level of security clearance/background check required
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
Direct Deposit is mandatory
Individuals with military incentive bonuses may be subject to recoupment
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement
Military Grades: Maximum: E7; Minimum: E6; Military Grade inversion within the full time work forces is not permitted
Compatible Military Assignments: AFSC: 2A5X1 and 2A5X4
General Experience: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series
Specialized Experience: WL-10: Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification
Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow
Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container
In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must possess 24 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series
Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment
The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series
