Electronics Materials Engineer (Onsite)
Collins Aerospace is a leader in aerospace technology, and they are seeking an Electronics Materials Engineer to specialize in failure analysis, process control, and electronic design analysis. This role involves leading investigations into electronic component failures, ensuring quality and reliability through design and process optimization, and collaborating across various engineering functions.

Responsibilities
Perform failure analysis of electronic assemblies and components, identifying root causes of failures in mechanical and electrical subsystems
Conduct material analyses and testing, including verification and validation of materials and processes in support of electronic component reliability
Review and approve engineering drawings for IEEE components, electronic assemblies, and electronics packaging designs
Collaborate with Engineering Design, Procurement, and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and ensure robust product development
Interface with plant sites and sub-tier suppliers to troubleshoot fabrication, assembly, and processing issues during failure investigations
Support the design process by consulting with electronics packaging experts to develop durable and reliable electronic controller designs
Lead and supervise materials testing and verification activities in the laboratory environment
Provide technical guidance on mature products and processes, addressing supply chain requests with effective engineering solutions
Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and materials science to improve process control and support continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to the development and implementation of standardized procedures and best practices across the organization
Review and approve subcontractor materials processing procedures and provide technical oversight where needed
Mentor and coach junior engineers in investigation techniques and design best practices
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Preferred
Proven experience performing root cause analysis on electronic components and assemblies
Working knowledge of electronic component manufacturing, packaging design, and process control methods, with experience supporting design reviews and verification testing
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and supplier teams to resolve issues, drive improvements, and align technical goals
Familiarity with IEEE standards, engineering drawing approval processes, and quality systems supporting mature product lines and continuous improvement initiatives
