Responsibilities
Build, test, and maintain a suite of robust bioinformatics tools, workflows, and analysis modules
Work in a team to scope, define, and articulate solutions to complex computing and information management challenges at the forefront of modern bioinformatics
Contribute to the architecture and operations of our computing infrastructure
Contribute to the team through code reviews and design discussions
Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
Balance quick wins with long-term technical sustainability
As a well-rounded engineer, participate in all aspects of the development process and be interested in our mission
Qualification
Required
2+ years of experience building and managing bioinformatics workflows (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake, WDL, CWL)
Proven experience optimizing and scaling bioinformatics pipelines for performance and reliability
Proficient in Python, with bonus points for experience in other programming languages
First-hand experience working with bioinformatics tools, databases, and file formats used in sequence analysis
Comfortable with modern development practices - version control, unit testing, CI/CD, and code reviews
Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
Thrive in a fast-moving startup - you know when to prototype quickly and when to build production-grade systems
Preferred
