Responsibilities
Design a hybrid navigation system that combines classical approaches (SLAM, state estimation) with foundation model capabilities
Determine the optimal division of responsibilities between algorithmic and learned components
Drive sensor selection and verification to ensure we build our stack with the best cost / performance tradeoff
Act as a bridge between the hardware and research teams to optimize performance across the full stack
Work with the product team to ensure we can perform economically useful tasks that are currently infeasible with a stationary manipulation platform
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science or a related field
7+ years of professional experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics or related industries, including significant experience in navigation systems
Strong theoretical understanding of state estimation, SLAM, and sensor fusion, with practical experience applying both classical and learning-based approaches
Ability to perform hands-on coding to implement complex software systems
Familiarity with coding best practices and design patterns
Experience with sensor selection and verification, ideally with hands-on prototype integration
Strong ownership, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred
Familiarity with robot learning approaches
Experience with C, C++, and embedded systems
Strong leadership and people management skills
Comfort with customer- and product-focused decision making for hard technical problems
