The Engineer I position involves assisting in the planning, design, and project management of gas distribution systems, including analyzing construction proposals and creating construction drawings using AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Analyze construction proposals for municipal, county, state and private projects for conflicts with existing gas facilities and propose recommendations to resolve conflicts

Meet, negotiate, and collaborate with city and state officials, engineers and construction contractors to resolve conflicts in a timely manner and relay Company policy, procedure and other information relative to the gas industry

Perform design of various types of natural gas distribution projects including new gas main installations, gas main replacements, reinforcements and other system support projects as required

Collect, research, and interpret existing facility records, in GIS and project as-builts, as part of the design process

Create construction drawings using AutoCAD

Develop timely and accurate cost estimates for construction projects

Complete project design package including, but not limited to: construction drawing, bill of materials, customer list, as-built records, bid package and cost estimate

Ensure compliance with all engineering principals, gas operating standards and all applicable codes, mandates and statutes

Perform other special projects and assignments as required
