Senior Category Manager, Direct Materials

Responsibilities
Lead subcategories within Biogen’s Direct Materials category to develop and implement strategies
Support globalization of processes to drive efficiency, leverage, and savings
Lead cross-functional teams using spend data analytics, market research, and cost modeling to identify high-value opportunities
Partner with stakeholders to build relationships that facilitate business value and savings
Regularly monitor the market to understand leading practices and changes in market conditions
Develop and implement global strategic sourcing initiatives for cost efficiency, supplier performance, and risk management
Champion ongoing continuous improvement and ensure efficiency of events through RFx events
Lead negotiations and contract management to ensure best practices
Execute supplier management activities, providing oversight and development based on defined criteria
Serve as a partner for critical suppliers, managing business review planning and issue escalations
Collaborate with global stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business objectives
Qualification
Required
7+ years of direct procurement experience in raw materials, manufacturing, or supply chain within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
Accomplished in category management with expertise in Large Molecule Direct, Small Molecule, Antisense Oligonucleotide (ASO) or Parenteral Fill Materials Procurement
Strong experience in negotiation of contract and commercial terms
Strong project management skills with ability to plan, assign resources, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change, resolve conflict, build consensus, and motivate team members across multiple projects concurrently
Strong leadership and collaboration skills to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders
Excellent communication skills to tailor messages to different audiences
Ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or a related field
Preferred
C.P.M./CPSM certification desirable
Experience with Oracle ERP, Tableau, Veeva Quality Vault, Business Objects, PowerBI, and Coupa
