Campus Technology Buildout Manager

Universal Technical Institute, Inc. is seeking a Sr. IT Project Manager for Campus Technology Buildout, responsible for leading complex technology projects from initiation through completion. The role focuses on overseeing the deployment of IT systems across newly constructed and expanding facilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget while managing resources and stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

Lead project management functions for IT teams to deliver highly scalable and flexible solutions to support growth and diversification strategies
Lead planning and execution of multiple complex IT projects to ensure on-time delivery of products
Facilitate stakeholder communications and engagement across project lifecycle
Manage project budgets, timelines, risk and risk mitigation
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables aligned with business objectives
Develop and maintain project plans and project documentation to drive efficiency
Identify and resolve issues that may negatively impact a project or project deliverables to ensure on-time delivery and product quality
Coordinates activities and deliverables across multiple teams including IT, business, and external vendor service providers
Leads efforts to continually improve project delivery processes
Lead and execute comprehensive planning, deployment, and integration of IT infrastructure for campus buildouts, expansions, and relocations—including networking, wireless technologies, audiovisual systems, security infrastructure, and endpoint devices
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, contractors, and construction teams to incorporate IT needs into facility planning and align with construction timelines
Manage vendor relationships across structured cabling, hardware delivery, system integration, audiovisual solutions, managed services, and smart building technology installations
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including floorplans, asset inventories, deployment schedules, and network diagrams
Facilitate effective collaboration among technology partners to ensure alignment with project schedules and fulfillment of operational objectives
Ensure all systems comply with educational IT standards, ADA accessibility guidelines, and cybersecurity best practices
Support final testing, troubleshooting, and handoff of systems to operational IT teams
Approximately 50% travel

Required

Bachelor's degree in information systems management, computer science, engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience with demonstrated ability
Minimum five (5) years' experience working as a Project Manager or in a project leadership role
Experience managing cross-functional teams and vendor relationships
Proven experience in IT construction and infrastructure planning
Hands-on expertise in large-scale computer deployments
Strong familiarity with structured cabling, networking hardware, system integration, wireless solutions, audiovisual systems, and device imaging tool
Competent in organizing, planning, and prioritizing work
Innovative, agile learner with a desire for continual process improvements
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Adept at applying disparate elements of information to understand complex problems
Perform work independently with little or no direct supervision
Demonstrates flexibility and ability to proactively seek new solutions; seek new opportunities for optimized team and platform performance
Lead multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities
Work independently and make informed decisions
Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
Foster collaboration and build strong relationships across teams

Preferred

Project Management experience within Information Technology, Software Development, or other Technical Engineering industry
Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, FERPA, GLBA, DoE Blue Book, Accreditation Standards, etc.)
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), MS Project, Azure DevOps, and Teams strongly preferred
