ELECTRIC POWER CONTROLLER
The Washington Headquarters Services is seeking an Electric Power Controller for the Pentagon Shops - Electrical. The role involves operating and maintaining emergency generators and ensuring the reliability of power supply systems.

Responsibilities
Monitoring, operating, maintaining and repairing uninterruptable power supplies (UPSs), power distribution units (PDUs), and
Building generator systems that are diesel powered electric generators ranging from 2 MW to 100 KW
Performing major and minor repairs to generating plant equipment, auxiliary equipment including ventilating systems, fans, oil distribution and transfer systems, and distribution systems
Performing switching of 15 KV and 4160 Volt switchgear and breakers as necessary to isolate power for emergencies, preventative maintenance, and safety
Assuring all Lockout and Tag-out procedures are followed

Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment and are subjected to random drug testing
May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period
The selectee must adhere to DoD Standards of Conduct
Required to participate in the direct deposit program
This is a National Security Position that has been designated as Noncritical Sensitive. Selectee is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
The selectee is required to wear protective equipment, i.e., arc flash rated suit, tyvek suits and respirators, while working in hazardous areas
This position requires the selectee to wear a uniform and safety boots in the performance of duties
The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION CRITICAL EMPLOYEE. Mission critical employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions
The selectee is required to pass a pre-employment and yearly physical examination for this position
The selectee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and/ or holidays and/or mandatory overtime, and may be subject to call 24 hours a day
Your background must demonstrate a full range of Electric Power Controller tasks including monitoring, operating, maintaining and repairing uninterruptable power supplies (UPSs), power distribution units (PDUs), and building generator systems that are diesel powered electric generators ranging from 6 KW to 2 MW, 110/240 volt portable light carts to 13,800 volt 3 phase alternating current systems; and starting and placing generators in service as required by the demand for power, adjusting voltage regulators, equalizing the phase voltage, synchronizing the generators, adjusting governors, and closing the circuit breakers
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
The screen-out element for this position is The Ability to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision
Those who meet the minimum level of experience and training for the screen-out element will then be evaluated in each of the following job elements: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc., Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic), Knowledge of operation of generators
For short periods of time pulling and tugging tools is required. Regular standing, stooping, and reaching are required in servicing equipment. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
Work is performed in a well heated, lighted and ventilated area except for that time when diesel engines are in operation and discharge fumes are not fully removed by the exhaust system. The environment is hazardous with high noise levels, live electrical equipment and moving parts on the engines and generators
