Customer Service/Collections Representative $17.00 to $21.00 per hour
Reese Law Group is a law firm located in Carlsbad that specializes in debt collections, subrogation, bankruptcy, and replevins. This position assists the firm’s Collections department by acting as a liaison between the firm and various banks, employers, and sheriff departments.

Responsibilities
Communicate via telephone with banks, employers, and sheriff’s departments in order to process wage garnishments, bank levies, and till taps relating to legal claims
Review files to determine appropriate follow-up on garnishment orders
Enter accurate documentation of all communications regarding claims in the firm’s case management software system
Negotiate settlements and payment agreements
Communicate with debtors regarding past-due amounts and attempt to re-establish payment plans for debtors who have defaulted
Function as a primary point of contact between clients and consumers
Assist other members of the Collections department, as needed
Report to work in a regular and timely manner
Qualification
Required
Excellent, positive verbal communication and negotiation skills over the telephone
Experience level: prefer 6 months' collections experience
Experience in a customer service position or in an office-based position with significant telephone-based duties
Education level: High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred
Ability to communicate verbally in a clear, calm, and polite manner over the telephone, often with hostile or combative practices
Ability to pay close attention to details, including but not limited to deadlines, confidential information, financial figures, and legal claims
Ability to take initiative in learning new concepts, seeking additional information, and asking questions of co-workers when uncertain
Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks in a manner that enables timely completion
Must be able to work in a seated or standing position, for periods up to and exceeding 8.0 hours per day
Extensive use of a mouse and keyboard, and calculator
Extended viewing of a computer screen
Extensive use of a telephone
Must be able to work a normal M-F schedule on site
Preferred
Knowledge of FDCPA, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
Bi-lingual ability (Spanish)
