Responsibilities
As a member of the AWS Board Core Design & Services team you will own next-generation server components
You will interact with an interdisciplinary team of engineers to design, develop, validate, and launch at large scale
You’ll provide leadership in the application of new technologies to servers in a continuous effort to deliver and improve a world-class customer experience
Hardware engineers within AWS Board Core Design & Services team could be working in a variety of areas, few examples would be: hardware design and development; building the systems that validate hardware quality in manufacturing; monitoring and improving hardware reliability in data centers and platform
We cover everything from low level hardware to embedded software and systems that operate and monitor it
There is no blueprint for how to do what we do, which encourages our engineers to identify and develop simple solutions to complex problems
We encourage durable solutions that look around corners while taking into consideration our customer needs from a cost, performance, and reliability perspective
This means tracking key business and operational metrics to ensure that we operate smoothly and minimize or eliminate customer impact due to device related issues for a transparent AWS customer experience
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
5+ years of hardware engineering experience
Experience collaborating with the ECAD/physical board designer and able to review PCB designs with Allegro, CAM350, or equivalent
Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
7+ years of experience with I2C, SPI, UART interfaces
Experience interfacing with thermal, mechanical, firmware and software teams during product development
Preferred
Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout
Experience in server technologies such as, thermal, mechanical, power, and signal integrity
Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submissions
Experience identifying and resolving complex issues
Experience in component selection and understanding of component reliability
Experience in designing and developing large-scale services
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
10+ years of experience in server design for cloud or enterprise applications
Experience in designing for reuse across multiple products
Strong organizational and planning skill
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills
Experience with the management of technical programs a plus
Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
