The High School English Teacher will lead classroom instruction, build relationships with students, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance student learning in critical reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

Set the tone for student growth and learning

Build strong relationships with students to push them to be their best selves academically and personally

Crave feedback and think deeply about instruction to ensure student mastery of critical college-level reading and writing skills

Collaborate with colleagues to meet the needs of every student

Engage in regular data meetings and approximately 20 administrative observations

Participate in nearly 300 hours of professional development over the course of the school year

Partner with other ELA teachers to refine and teach the entire curriculum in reading and writing

Teach multiple ELA classes and serve as an advisor

Mentor students, communicate with families, and share information about colleges and character education

Teach an AP class and attend AP-specific training if required

Lead an after-school club or coach a sport for an additional stipend
