Director, Test Cell Engineering

As the Director of Test Cell Engineering, you will oversee the performance and strategic direction of test cell engineering operations, ensuring alignment with site objectives and regulatory standards while driving process improvements and team development.

Responsibilities
Direct strategic test cell engineering activities, resources, and personnel, including supervision, development, and performance management
Develop and recommend test cell engineering policies and procedures consistent with company and strategic business unit objectives
Coordinate company engineering resources in support of strategic test cell and product development initiatives
Oversee all engineering work including project development, staff assignments, and the application of sound engineering principles across the business unit
Lead project teams in planning, quality improvement, performance measurement, capital asset acquisition, tooling development, and training assessments
Ensure training programs are implemented to build staff capability and meet evolving technology and compliance requirements
Audit and review the quality of engineering programs, recommending improvements as appropriate
Analyze existing production methods and recommend modifications to improve efficiency, cost, and quality
Evaluate and implement new technologies and re-engineering options to enhance test and production performance
Oversee prototype runs for new products or processes and interpret technical trends across the operation
Support and coordinate environmental programs aligned with corporate targets, including reporting and compliance
Manage planning, budgeting, program timing, and specifications for all engineering projects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
Drive process improvement initiatives that reduce non-conformance and enhance product reliability and quality
Stay current with engineering trends and technological advancements applicable to test cell and engine performance
Oversee recruitment, training, career development, and performance management for the engineering team
Actively participate in leadership team activities, contributing to strategic plans, budgets, and organizational goals
Lead or support special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in engineering experience within aerospace, aviation, or gas turbine test environments
5+ years of experience engaging with OEMs, customers, and regulatory authorities
5+ years of experience in managing Propulsion Performance engineering teams and test cell operations, including multidisciplinary, cross-functional project
5+ years of experience in engine or component testing (e.g., turbofan, turboshaft, or auxiliary power units)
5+ years of experience working with data analysis, reporting, and budgeting
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial)
Preferred
Six Sigma Black Belt
Project Management Professional (PMP) certified
Hands-on experience with instrumentation, data acquisition systems (DAQ), and control software used in test cells (e.g., National Instruments, LabVIEW, PLC systems)
Strong knowledge of test cell facility design, correlation and calibration, and regulatory compliance (FAA, EASA, DoD, etc.)
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects involving maintenance, manufacturing, and quality
Deep understanding of company processes, rework option codes, and process instruction manuals
Strong project management capabilities with a record of leading complex, high-impact engineering initiatives
Exceptional planning, analytical, and decision-making skills
Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience in driving continuous improvement, cost reduction, and throughput optimization in test operations
