Structural Engineer III
The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government, overseeing various operations including building construction and maintenance. The Structural Engineer III will review and approve design and construction documents related to structural and civil engineering for capital improvement projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Responsibilities
Review and approve for bidding design and construction documents related to the structural and civil engineering aspects of Capital improvement projects
Verify scope and estimated costs of projects with the contract requirements and the appropriate funds
Efficient and proper use of space, form, and materials of buildings and building site
Check the level of completion, accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness of plans and specifications
Indicate corrections and suggest improvements and revisions
Economy in initial costs and long-term maintenance
Energy efficient systems and energy conservation measures in construction
Appropriate selection, specification, and use of all materials
Compliance with NC Building Codes and applicable NC General Statutes on public work
Conformance of the contractual bid package with State Construction Office guidelines, policies, and procedures
Coordination of the plans and documents among the other engineering disciplines
Project cannot proceed to bid without State Construction Office approval according to GS 143-341(3)
Review all structural engineering aspects of capital improvement projects submitted by designers in the construction document phase
Assist construction monitors in the field in resolving technical or contractual issues at the construction site
Monitor structures under construction and at completion provide valuable three-dimensional insight into problems or conditions that could be corrected earlier in the two-dimensional review process
Conduct a comprehensive review and technical evaluation of design drawings, specifications, and budget of each project submitted by contracted designers
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience
May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors
Working knowledge of principles and practices of Structural and Civil Engineering
