Howmet Aerospace is a world leader in investment casting of superalloys, aluminum, and titanium primarily for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbine markets. The Layout Inspector will inspect castings and precision measurement instruments for conformance to blueprints and customer specifications, utilizing coordinate measurement machines and dimensional software.

Responsibilities

Perform calibrations of all customers gauges (daily)

Repair customer gauges to make them functional for production use (daily)

Run CMM programs on production castings (daily)

Correlated CMM programs to manual results (daily)

Troubleshoot and repair problems associated with all CMM’s in the plant (daily)

Perform calibrations of all precision measurement equipment to ISO standards (weekly)

Perform routine maintenance on CMM machines (monthly)

Understand all customer specifications and ISO quality standards

Operate coordinate measurement machines utilizing computer software packages such as FLB, OFI, Autoscan, Fanamation, AutoCAD and Valysis (daily)

Apply all knowledge concerning blueprint interpretation and geometric tolerancing (daily)

Apply math skills to projects requiring knowledge of trigonometry (daily)

In all cases of inspection or correlation, the inspector must report results on everything to within .0005 except on structural precision measurement equipment where the measurement tolerance is .0002

This position requires an associate's degree from two-year college or technical school, or one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Must be available for all shifts. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
