Tax Supervisor Trust and Estates

The role involves conducting research, analysis, and review of complex tax matters related to estates and trusts, providing guidance on tax planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals, and managing staff within the team.

Responsibilities
Reviewing complex gift, estate, and fiduciary income tax returns, including related schedules and forms
Reviewing of fiduciary accountings for estates and trusts
Providing tax planning and consulting to our firm’s high net worth client for estate and individual income taxes
Researching and consulting on various estate, gift, and trust related issues, such as trustee and beneficiary issues, Crummey obligations, and generation skipping tax issues
Identifying additional estate and income tax planning opportunities for clients
Overseeing billing and collections of clients
Managing, coaching, and mentoring staff, seniors, and supervisors
Researching and drafting memorandum involving complex tax matters
Identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities
Overseeing complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and diverse industries
Managing multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines
Conducting constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and providing counsel accordingly
Serving in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, with a focus on estates and trusts and high-net-worth individuals
CPA and/or JD Certification
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Proficiency in using tax software systems such as, Sure Prep, GEMs, CCH Axcess, Microsoft Suites, and Adobe
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Extensive experience in researching, reviewing, and planning complex tax matters. Experience working with individuals
Preferred
Masters degree preferred
Strong technical knowledge of fiduciary tax, gift and estate tax compliance issues and estate planning
Experience working with high-net-worth individuals living abroad including estate planning
Strong knowledge of international tax issues and cross-border transactions as it relates to estates and trusts
Ability to read, interpret and summarize trust documents
