Responsibilities

Prepare substrates and maintain coating quality through precision cleaning and surface preparation

Operate vacuum coating chambers to produce ion-beam-sputtered optical thin-film coatings

Measure and analyze coating performance using a spectrophotometer and other precision instruments

Inspect optical components and coatings for defects, ensuring compliance with specifications

Conduct microscope-based inspections to identify fine defects -- strong visual acuity is required

Maintain accurate process records including machine operations, parameters, and observations

Follow and refine standard operating procedures to ensure process consistency and workplace safety

Perform routine maintenance on coating equipment, including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly

Assist with inventory management and facility upkeep to support continuous production

Develop expertise in production control and make coating performance adjustments as needed
