Responsibilities

Provide day‑to‑day leadership for global Web Platform, DevOps, and SRE organizations, including multiple Directors and senior engineering leaders
Translate business objectives into clear engineering strategies, resource plans, and delivery roadmaps; create clarity amid changing priorities
Establish predictable execution with program governance: scope, milestones, budgets, dependencies, and risk registers across all committed projects
Instill an ownership mindset and accountability through clear goals (OKRs), dashboards, and regular business/technical reviews
Scale enterprise-wide SDLC practices across teams spanning coding standards, peer reviews, release orchestration, CI/CD, observability, compliance automation, performance, and resiliency, and—to ensure consistency across all product lines
Own technical stack strategy: ensure the right technologies are selected for longevity, security, and maintainability; drive consolidation and deprecation of duplicative stacks and tooling
Provide direction and oversight for architectural decisions (reference architectures, ADRs, design reviews); ensure solutions meet scalability, security, privacy, and compliance requirements
Dive deep when needed: read code, inspect pipelines, query logs/metrics/traces, and participate in design/debug sessions to unblock delivery—leadership is necessary but not sufficient
Identify, mitigate, and track risks and cross‑team dependencies; maintain transparent risk registers and action plans with clear owners and due dates
Set executive-level KPIs to drive consistent delivery tracking (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate), capacity planning, tech‑debt, reliability across roadmap and regularly report progress to the VP of Software Engineering and other key stakeholders
Drive the centralization and standardization of observability platforms (metrics, logging, tracing) to deliver end-to-end visibility across all services and infrastructure domains
Design and institutionalize the incident response and on‑call process (runbooks, escalation paths, blameless postmortems, SLIs/SLOs/error budgets) to ensure reliability and rapid recovery
Stand up engineering scorecards and reviews covering reliability (SLO attainment, incident MTTR/MTTD), performance, security posture, and delivery predictability
Ensure cost visibility for platforms and cloud services; optimize for efficiency without compromising reliability or velocity
Forge strategic partnerships with Security, Compliance, and Network teams to integrate reliability requirements into broader governance and risk management programs (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2)
Serve as a key partner to senior leadership, providing regular updates on engineering initiatives, risks, and opportunities
Serve as liaison between Product Management, Hardware Engineering, Security, Compliance, Customer Success, and General Managers (GMs) to align priorities, roadmaps, and ensure integrated, end-to-end solutions that meet stringent safety and regulatory requirements
Tightly integrate platform engineering with application teams to accelerate product velocity and shared platform adoption
Advocate for engineering best practices and innovation across the broader organization
Build, coach, and develop a high‑performing leadership bench; raise the bar on technical acumen, operational discipline, and ownership culture
Create an environment where teams can operate with autonomy and low context while maintaining high accountability to outcomes
Recruit, retain, and develop diverse talent; model inclusive, psychologically safe, and high‑trust engineering behaviors
Improve team health with clear career frameworks, leveling guides, and technical leadership paths (Staff/Principal/Architect)

Deep understanding of modern web platforms (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, micro frontends, APIs), cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD, containers/orchestration, and SRE principles
