Assistant Attorney General, Consumer Privacy Unit
The Virginia Office of the Attorney General is seeking an Assistant Attorney General for the Consumer Privacy Unit. This role involves analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting violations of consumer privacy laws, as well as collaborating with other states and federal agencies on related matters.

Responsibilities
Analyze, investigate, and prosecute suspected violations of the new Consumer Data Protection Act, the Virginia Consumer Protection Act, and other state and federal consumer privacy statutes
Have secondary responsibility for analyzing, investigating, and prosecuting violations of other state and federal consumer protection laws as needed
Prepare to appear in the appropriate state or federal court in actions filed against alleged violators
Work with counterparts in other states and federal agencies
Assist in drafting official opinions and review proposed legislation
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated ability to analyze and manage complex enforcement cases
Well-developed oral and written communication skills
Ability to interact effectively with state/federal government officials, a diverse workforce, and the general public
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts, concentrating on consumer privacy or consumer protection matters
Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar
Preferred
International Association of Privacy Professionals' Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification is desired and can be obtained after employment
