Responsibilities
Lead technical design and delivery of land development projects, including site layout, grading, drainage systems, underground utilities, and grade separations
Organize project workflows, establish design criteria, and delegate tasks to junior staff
Make decisions on specific project elements and consult with senior leadership on complex or critical issues
Support QA/QC implementation and identify out-of-scope services
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams
Assist in coordinating sub-consultant work and ensure cohesive project execution
Attend project meetings and represent BKF as a secondary point-of-contact
Contribute to proposal development and cross-sell BKF's services to regional clients
Manage assigned project elements within established budgets and timelines
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly preferred, Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) will also be considered
Minimum 4 years of experience in land development design and project delivery
Strong background in site development, grading, drainage, underground utilities, and entitlement processes
Experienced with local agency standards, permitting processes, and coordination with municipalities and utility owners
Proficiency in technical design AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management tools
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and written, especially in client-facing settings
Occasional travel required between BKF offices and client sites
