Mechanical Engineer (Data Centers)

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for leading mechanical design for hyperscale projects, ensuring compliance with standards, and collaborating with various teams to deliver cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate mechanical design for hyperscale projects from concept through construction
Develop and review HVAC system layouts, load calculations, and equipment selections, ensuring alignment with performance, reliability, and energy-efficiency targets
Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA)
Collaborate closely with internal project managers, electrical engineers, architects, and external consultants to deliver integrated and cost-effective solutions
Evaluate utility and infrastructure requirements, including chilled water, condenser water, and air-side systems
Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings during construction
Support commissioning and integrated systems testing to validate system performance, redundancy, and efficiency
Participate in value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk assessments
Stay current on innovations in mechanical systems, sustainability strategies, and energy-optimization technologies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; PE license preferred
5–10 years of professional experience in mechanical design, with a focus on data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale commercial infrastructure
Deep understanding of cooling and air distribution systems, hydronic systems, and energy-efficient design principles
Understand, critique, and manage the development of energy models to inform design decisions and support the preparation of project OPEX budgets
Familiarity with HVAC load modeling and BIM software (e.g., TRACE 3D Plus, Revit MEP)
Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
