Environmental Field Technician

Atlas is a nationwide leader in civil engineering, materials testing, and geotechnical consulting services for environmental, industrial, and infrastructure construction projects. They are seeking an Environmental Field Technician to perform soil and groundwater sampling, oversee drilling activities, and ensure compliance with health and safety policies while working locally in the Las Vegas area.

Responsibilities

Perform soil and groundwater sampling for subsurface assessment and remediation projects
Oversee drilling activities and log soil samples
Compile detailed, well-organized data/field notes and photographs
Prepare chain-of-custody forms for analytical testing and record survey data on approved forms
Travel locally to project sites in the Las Vegas area and in Nevada using company vehicle
Implement Atlas’ health and safety policies and procedures
Perform field work related to environmental, due diligence, remediation, industrial hygiene, and Brownfields projects in the Las Vegas area and in Nevada
Positively interact with internal and external clients, service partners, and contractors
Promote a safety-first culture that values proactive measures & continuous improvement
Collaborate with other team members toward a common goal of providing client-centric services with high quality interactions and deliverables
Embrace and model the Atlas core values including trust, mastery, heart, and life
Manage assigned project tasks on time, within scope and within budget in a safe manner
Perform routine maintenance of field equipment utilized by the Las Vegas office
Assist with cost estimating and procurement of equipment and parts
Willingness to be cross-trained for other environmental assignments, as needed

Required

Good technical and organizational skills
Ability to work independently on assigned project tasks with limited supervision
Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Good communication skills
Ability to pass a standard drug screen and motor vehicle background check
Ability to travel, primarily within Nevada
Dependable, organized, detail oriented, and resourceful
Positive, flexible team-oriented approach, with the willingness and desire to work as part of a multi-disciplinary professional team
Ability to work efficiently and independently

Preferred

Preference will be given to candidates with a university or college degree in environmental science, geology, or other applied science (or currently working towards degree), or a high school diploma with at least one year of applicable experience in a similar role with an environmental or engineering consulting firm
Preferred candidate will be 40-hour HAZWOPER trained and have a working knowledge of United States Environmental Protection Agency and State of Nevada environmental regulations and standard field procedures and methodologies related to due diligence, site investigation, remediation, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental compliance projects
Proficiency in CADD and/or GIS is also considered a plus
