Cleveland-Cliffs is the largest flat-rolled steel company in North America, and they are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support their Piedmont location in Newton, North Carolina. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of equipment maintenance, product quality, and plant engineering.

Responsibilities

Monitor delay rates and product quality to assure equipment dependability and reliability

Provide expertise in troubleshooting and solving both electrical and mechanical problems of various pieces of plant equipment, including automatic conveyors, overhead cranes, and CNC machines

Work directly with customers regarding product quality and customer requests

Write programs for CNC cutting equipment as needed

Manage purchasing and analyzing costs for maintenance and plant supplies

Manage the Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems

Conduct formal qualifications of new mills and processors as needed

Available off hours and weekends when business needs dictate

Required

BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems, including PLC and CNC controls

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems

Leadership, communication, computer, CAD, organizational, math and practical engineering skills

Preferred

Five years of heavy industry and steel maintenance, technical and supervisory experience

Experience in mechanical systems including fluid and mechanical power, hydraulic control systems, pumps, piping

Experience in working with a formal quality system (ISO/QS)

Experience in Preventive/Predictive Maintenance Systems
