Responsibilities

Independently performs complex financial, budgetary, and compliance analysis for the Athletics Department
Applies advanced problem-solving skills to support long-range financial planning, evaluate fiscal performance, and recommend process improvements
Manages budget planning and financial reporting for 17 NCAA Division I programs, including preparation of required NCAA, Big West Conference (BWC), and governmental reports (e.g., DOE/EADA)
Core duties include year-end fiscal closing, general ledger reconciliations, and cost/budget transfer reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of discrepancies
Serves as a key resource for the annual NCAA Agreed-Upon Procedures (AUP) audit and other financial compliance reviews
Prepares financial materials, dashboards, and reports for committee meetings and coordinates with the CFAO and Athletics leadership

Required

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Master's Degree in business administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education
4 - 7 years of related experience
Experience working in higher education and/or a Division I Athletics Business Office and working knowledge of NCAA regulations
Has ability to independently gather required information, organize, and perform financial analysis assignments
Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally
Proven ability to use spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports
Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Ability to function as a member of a team
Knowledge of and experience in applying budgeting and financial management policies and best practices and developing related internal controls
Skill in evaluating and analyzing data and information to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, and applying the concepts to formulate logical conclusions or recommendations
Skilled in preparing and analyzing periodic financial statements using complex financial systems, and designing queries to mine for relevant data
Ability to perform analytical studies related to departmental resources across the departments/programs
Knowledge in retrieving, querying, and analyzing data from various internal/external systems to produce meaningful reports
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

Preferred

Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems
Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
Demonstrated working knowledge of UC/UCR policies
Ability to prepare annual EADA and NCAA Revenues and Expenses report
Proven skills for implementing and managing a Procurement card program
Advanced PC skills to create documents, spreadsheets, and reports using Word, Access, Excel (Pivot Tables), or other software applications; experience with exporting/importing data from or to different applications; and operating knowledge of Internet for information gathering
