University of Utah is seeking a Data Center Technician for the Center for High Performance Computing (CHPC). This role involves racking and installing servers, managing day-to-day operations of network equipment, and troubleshooting connectivity issues while working closely with the monitoring team.

Responsibilities

Racking and installing servers
Cabling servers, switches, environmental monitoring, and security equipment
Inventorying Data Center and department equipment
Day-to-day basic operating of Ethernet switches, InfiniBand switches, routers, and firewalls
Managing environmental sensors
Managing in-rack power distribution units

Qualification

Required

Familiarity with electrical systems, connections, etc
Familiarity with managing data center loads
Familiarity with cable terminations
Basic Command Line Interface skills in Windows and Linux/Mac
Ability to lift and install equipment in a data center
Familiarity with power tools, mechanical troubleshooting
Ability to work in a data center environment for long periods of time working with others to troubleshoot
Good communication and troubleshooting skills
Good documentation skills

Preferred

Knowledge of ethernet and how it functions
Knowledge of VLANs
Basic Linux and Windows end host network troubleshooting
Knowledge of SNMP
Applicable Certifications
CCNA
CCNP
CompTIA Network+
CompTIA A+
DCIS
DCDC
DCCA
