Environmental Compliance Specialist

They are seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist who will support cross-functional efforts to comply with environmental, health, and safety requirements, and ensure product compliance with global regulations.

Responsibilities

Work closely with Compliance, Procurement, Engineering, and product development teams to create an overall program strategy to comply with global environmental, health and safety requirements
Identify and formally track evolving product regulatory requirements related to restricted or prohibited substances on a global basis and notify Procurement, Engineering and R&D of cutover dates to ensure adequate planning
Support and track product-level information by surveying and working with direct materials suppliers to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (i.e., presence of restricted or prohibited chemicals, carbon emissions data, labor practices, and avoidance of conflict minerals)
Coordinate regulatory submissions, updating and managing website disclosures, and responding to customer inquiries related to product compliance information (e.g., RoHS, REACH, WEEE, other compliance statements)
Partner with Engineering and R&D teams to verify product details comply with existing and emerging regulatory requirements, such as chemical content, product labelling, and health and safety documentation requirements
Support Compliance with product lifecycle assessments (LCAs) to measure end-to-end carbon emissions for relevant products
Support Trade Compliance with country-of-origin analyses
Identify continuous improvement opportunities to strengthen global compliance strategy
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree
2+ years of experience in compliance, engineering, or procurement role
Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for US

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Environment, or related field
Strong writing and communication skills
Project management or experience building and developing regulatory oversight programs
Understanding of regulations impacting restricted/prohibited chemicals (e.g., RoHS, REACH, Prop 65)
Experience tracking and managing regulatory requirements on a global scale
Experience gathering and reporting sustainability data at the enterprise and/or product level
Ability to work collaboratively and build consensus cross-functionally
Comfort managing large quantities of complex data and learning new systems
Comfort communicating with external stakeholders
Experience with Agile PLM tool
