The role involves conducting maintenance, inspections, and repairs on live-fire ranges and target systems to ensure they are ready for training use.

Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and provide support to 17 Ranges spread over 350 geographically separated acres
Write correspondence in a military format when necessary
Attend and satisfactorily complete required training associated with job responsibilities
Cross-train with other contracted positions to fill in during absences
Perform data entry on PC-based computers utilizing current versions of Microsoft Windows and Office products
Maintain all supported ranges, facilities, and associated equipment
Ensure that repairs are completed in a timely manner
Conduct maintenance and repairs so that there are no training delays or mission impacts due to unmaintained ranges
Perform inspections, function tests, and maintenance and repair of portable and installed target systems
Troubleshoot, repair or replace as required
Fabricate facades, target structures, obstacles, theatre specific gates and doors as required
Install hollow core, solid core, residential steel, industrial steel, marine grade watertight doors and hatches, gates, windows and various locking systems for use as targets
Manage inventory of various target types and maintenance and repair parts
Conduct pre- and post-training event inspections and document damage to Range Manager
Conduct maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to various range and target electronic systems and components
Understand function and use of various sensor systems for target activation
Calibrate target systems
Assist in preparing ranges and supporting documents for inspections for Range, Explosive and Laser safety and compliance
Maintain records of findings of maintenance and repairs made
Set-up and take down target systems ahead of training evolutions
Participate in range cleanup as required and assist with range facilities cleanup to ensure compliance with environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety regulations
Build basic target structures of both wood and mild steel
Roughly join mild steel target parts and/or barriers by welding
Schedule range maintenance and range use in the Range Scheduling tool
Qualification
Required
Posses and maintain a SECRET security clearance
Posses and maintain a valid state driver's license, and be able to obtain appropriate special license/certification for equipment required, such as fork lifts, 1.5T truck, hydraulic equipment, bush hogs/mowers, Utility Cart, Skidsteer/Bobcat, light duty front end loader
Pass a drug screening and adhere to FAR 252.223-7004, Drug Free Workforce and submit to random drug screenings throughout employment
Be capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 70 lbs. unassisted
Have basic structural skills, basic carpentry skills, basic welding skills, basic pneumatic tool skills, basic electrical skills, basic construction drawing interpretation skills, basic computer skills
