WVU Health System is a dynamic and innovative healthcare organization offering a Finance Intern opportunity. The intern will support the finance team by assisting in financial data analysis, preparing financial statements, and contributing to process improvement initiatives within the department.

Responsibilities

Assist in financial data analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes
Collaborate with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records and documentation
Conduct research on industry best practices and financial trends to enhance departmental strategies
Assist in preparing financial statements, budget forecasts, and variance analyses
Support financial audits by gathering necessary documentation and providing assistance to auditors
Participate in meetings and training sessions to expand knowledge of healthcare finance and accounting principles
Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department
Perform other ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager

Required

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
Must possess basic computer knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment and software
Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
Must have the ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality
Must have the ability to project a positive and professional image to internal and external customers
Must have the ability to exercise initiative and work independently
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software/tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges in the healthcare finance sector
