Responsibilities

Provide engineering support to engine systems and subsystems relating to helicopters, unmanned air vehicles and fixed wing platforms
Provide written recommendations regarding field inquiries concerning serviceability of engines systems and subsystems and interpretation of airworthiness requirements
Review test plans, test reports, and analyses concerning compliance with specification and/or qualification requirements
Provide recommendations on the requirements coverage, success criteria, and acceptability of the test plans and reports, risks or potential risks of the test plan and report, and corrective actions or improvements to the test plan and report
Provide support for test witnessing, evaluation of test results, and/or post‐test inspections and recommendations regarding requirements coverage of tests and post‐test hardware condition and performance
Review change in designs and engineering change proposals and document airworthiness concerns
Review technical changes to manuals and maintenance procedures
Participate in program and design reviews and technical meetings
Support failure investigations and procedure validations/verifications
Provide technical and project engineering support for engine related improvements developed under the Component Improvement Program
Provide support for Deficiency Reporting requirements including disposition of exhibits and review of investigation findings and recommendations
Provide support for Reliability Improvement thru Failure Identification and Reporting (RIMFIRE) data review and determining cause of hardware removal
Provide support for depot and repair activities to include Maintenance and Overhaul (M&O) plan and hardware repair reviews, and support of Product Verification Audits (PVAs)
Provide support for alternate source evaluations, intercept actions, and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) engineering requests
Provide technical support for spares procurements to include review of Source Approval Request (SAR) packages and commerciality decisions
Provide technical support for critical safety item issues with propulsion engine systems and subsystems to include hydromechanical and electronic engine controls
Provide support for Product Lot Testing (PLTs) by reviewing drawings and identifying required inspection criteria
Review quality escapes and Manufacturing Review Boards (MRBs) and document airworthiness concerns
Provide technical support for Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and/or Cost Wise Readiness activities relating to engine systems or subsystems
Provide technical input on Foreign Military Sales support
Perform data reduction and analysis to evaluate engine and component performance and provide recommendations on the compliance of performance submittals with respect to applicable requirements along with detailed studies to determine corrective actions or improvements
Document processes and methodologies for the design and airworthiness qualification of propulsion systems and subsystems

Required

8 or more years of experience with the analysis, design and development, manufacturing, maintenance, or operation of turbine engines and engine controls
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of the airworthiness process
Experience in the life cycle management, airworthiness substantiation, safety of flight, and field support of aircraft
Excellent technical writing and verbal communication
Read and understand engineering drawings and parts lists
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a Secret security clearance
Travel may be up to 10-20%

Preferred

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
Experience with turboshaft engines such as T55-L-714, T700-GE-701, YT706-GE-700, and/or AE 1107C
Experience analyzing the risk, reliability, failure modes, component lifing, and flight testing of aircraft
Working knowledge of multiple DoD software programs such as: Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP), The Army Maintenance Management System-Aviation/Maintenance Consolidated Database System (TAMMS-A/MCDS), AED Task Tracking System (TTS), Aircraft/Engine Electronic Technical Manuals (ETMs)/Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
Experience writing and reviewing AWIS, SSRAs, System Safety Management Plans, FMECA/FEMA, and Safety Design Requirements Definition
Working knowledge of thermal analysis, gas turbine engine thermodynamic and aerodynamic performance, and engine control systems
Understanding of configuration management and control
