Mold Set Up Technician - 2nd Shift $500 Sign In Bonus

The Mold Set Up Technician will be responsible for setting up and maintaining injection molding machines, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring quality control throughout the production process.

Responsibilities
Set up, adjust, and maintain injection molding machines for rubber and plastic, including internal mold components; operate hoist systems for transferring molds onto racks and presses
Use various tools and instruments, including hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, and testing instruments, to inspect and repair mold components
Observe and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical devices in operation to locate and resolve issues; dismantle molds to access and replace defective parts
Perform repairs and fabrication, including changing worn or damaged leader pins, stripper bolts, and hydraulic components; assist in major mold rebuilding projects under supervision
Install functional and structural parts in molds, perform tests, troubleshoot performance issues, and follow manufacturer and engineering prints for rebuilding procedures
Conduct inspections and quality control, examining part form and texture to detect imperfections, cleaning mold tooling with wire brushes, sandblasters, or dry ice, and preparing molds for shipment
Communicate tooling and setup issues promptly, ensuring alignment with supervisors and lead personnel; maintain setup records, paperwork, and compliance with quality, safety, and production standards
Handle hazardous waste and support additional duties, including minor plumbing for molds, assisting maintenance mechanics, covering other shifts as necessary, and adhering to company policies
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent; general PC skills; ability to interact and communicate with employees at all levels and external individuals
At least 1 year in a manufacturing environment; experience as a mold setter preferred; familiarity with mechanical and electrical schematics, PCL/electronics experience is a plus
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; perform repetitive operations, push/pull functions; stand for 8 hours daily; bend, twist, and reach as needed
Comfortable working with heavy equipment in a non-climate-controlled environment; must be able to work on hot molds; ability to operate a forklift and walk-behind lift truck
Candidates must have a valid work authorization permitting employment with ABB in the U.S
Preferred
Experience as a mold setter preferred
Some experience using a voltmeter for electrical troubleshooting preferred
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred
