Responsibilities

Researches a variety of sources, analyzes, and initiates actions on tax issues obtaining applicable returns, schedules, and all required information for correction of accounts and records; verifies, analyzes and adjusts taxpayer accounts
Secures payment of delinquent taxes and filing of delinquent returns. Determines financial, levy source, adjustment and uncollectible information; advises taxpayers of appeal procedures
May serve as a technical advisor, OJT coach, classroom instructor, or reviewer, and provide technical assistance on systemic problems and inconsistencies in IRMs
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship
Undergo a review of conduct and an income tax verification
This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into 'Continuous Vetting.'
Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment
Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: GENERAL EXPERIENCE GS-04: Applicants must have one of the following to qualify at this grade level: At least twelve (12 months) of general experience
EDUCATION: Two (2) years of education above the high school level
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of general experience
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-05: Applicants must meet one of the following: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal government
EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: A Bachelor's degree or four years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Have a combination of education and experience equivalent to one year of specialized experience
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-06: Applicants must have: At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal government
