Field Service Technician

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and perform major and minor repair work on motors, pumps, hydraulic equipment, compressors, controls, valves, and related equipment
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, engines, and compressors
Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric and air driven tools
Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work
Fabricate and modify parts and equipment, as necessary
Evaluate status of mechanical equipment and perform needed repair
Maintain records, prepare reports and other specialized maintenance records of equipment and mechanical equipment
Examine pumps for malfunctioning and locate damage or wear, such as blowout packing, misalignment of pump shaft, slippage of drive belt, worn bearings, or need for lubrication
Perform repairs, such as cleaning impellers, repacking stuffing boxes, tightening glands, and replacing bearings

Required

5+ years of mechanic experience
Experience working with pumps and other rotating equipment
Knowledge of welding and hazards and safety precautions common to municipal maintenance and repair activities
You must be able to carry out assigned projects to their completion; communicate effectively with and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the public
Must have or be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver's License
Acceptable driving record according to company guidelines
High school or GED equivalent

Preferred

Some specialized training or two years mechanic experience is recommended but not required
