Responsibilities

Provide legal advice and business counsel to the contracting officer, the head of contracting activity (HCA), and other USTRANSCOM personnel involved in any contracting cycle stage
Interpret and apply fiscal law and policies on direct appropriations, revolving funds, and any funding mechanisms for the acquisition of supplies, services, construction, etc
Provide legal advice and business counsel to program managers, portfolio managers, project managers, and other USTRANSCOM personnel engaged in any phase of managing a Command requirement through acquisition
Advocate and represent the Command position in negotiations, meetings, proceedings before courts and administrative tribunals, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) forums
Provide general legal support, analysis, and advice in various areas, including intellectual property law, fiscal law, electronic commerce, management of information technology (IT), information and operations security, cyber law, business law, and intelligence law
Provide general legal support, analysis, and advice in the areas of transportation law, cargo preference, activation of organic and ready reserve fleet assets, sea and airlift readiness programs, administrative and civil law, and national security law

This is an Excepted Service position
Licensed as an attorney, in active (or equivalent) status and in good standing, with the bar of a U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth is a condition of employment
Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606
Suitable for Federal employment determined by a background investigation. Employee must obtain/maintain a Non-Critical Sensitive (Secret) security clearance
You must be a graduate from an ABA-accredited law school
Possess a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school at the time of applying for the position
A copy of college transcripts must be submitted with your application
Failure to provide a copy of law school transcripts and proof of membership in good standing with the bar of the highest court of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico will result in you being rated ineligible for this position
Specialized Experience: 1 year experience or education in Acquisition Law or Business Law highly desirable
