Responsibilities

Implement inquiry-driven, discussion-rich lessons that engage students in analyzing complex texts from diverse voices and global perspectives—developing critical thinking, empathy, and strong written and verbal communication
Demonstrate deep expertise in English Language Arts content and pedagogy, guiding students to master literary analysis, evidence-based argumentation, and clear, purposeful writing
Build a classroom culture where curiosity, dialogue, and creativity thrive—and where students feel empowered to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and see themselves reflected in literature
Serve as an Advisor to a small cohort of students, developing meaningful relationships with families and supporting each student’s personal and academic growth
Collaborate with colleagues to co-create a rigorous, joyful founding high school environment rooted in Zeta’s mission and values
Use data, feedback, and student work to assess reading comprehension, writing progress, and critical thinking—and continuously refine instruction
Embrace the “start-up spirit” of a founding team—adapting quickly, solving problems creatively, and building systems that will define the future of Zeta High School
Engage in ongoing professional learning and coaching to sharpen your craft and contribute to a team that believes in doing hard things exceptionally well

Teaching certification (NY)English Language Arts expertiseLead teaching experienceLiterary analysisCommunication skills

Required

Bachelor's degree
At least 1-2+ years of lead teaching experience
Proven record of propelling extraordinary student growth
Deep expertise in English Language Arts content and pedagogy
Ability to implement inquiry-driven, discussion-rich lessons
Experience in guiding students to master literary analysis, evidence-based argumentation, and clear, purposeful writing
Ability to build a classroom culture where curiosity, dialogue, and creativity thrive
Experience in developing meaningful relationships with families and supporting each student's personal and academic growth
Ability to collaborate with colleagues to co-create a rigorous, joyful founding high school environment
Experience in using data, feedback, and student work to assess reading comprehension, writing progress, and critical thinking
Ability to engage in ongoing professional learning and coaching

Preferred

English-related degree
NY certification
