Responsibilities
Develop electrical architecture, system and subcomponent requirements
Perform risk analysis including DFMEA and hazard analysis as part of a collaborative team
Perform detailed design, debug and verify medical electronic circuits and systems
Engineering Change Notice preparation
Preparation / Chairing Design Reviews including preparation / distribution of meeting minutes
Develop verification and validation protocols/results. Perform and document Worst Case Analysis, CAPA and other technical reports in accordance with approved procedures
Identification of obsolete component alternatives
PCBA Failure Investigations
Remote and Onsite technical supplier support
Provides technical leadership as subject matter expert. Leads design reviews and serves as senior member on a highly collaborative cross-functional design team
Provide mentorship for junior engineers include design critique
Recommends and implements design and development practices
Recommends hiring, training, and performance management
May supervise other Electrical Engineering staff of various levels
Qualification
Required
BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in electrical design
MS in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of experience
Education that includes advanced design techniques and synthesis in one or more areas of design expertise (e.g. digital embedded design, analog design or power supply design)
Formal education that includes the design of Analog/Digital/Microprocessor based circuits and PCB's
Knowledge of medical device standards such as IEC 60601 and IEC 60601-1-2 including design methodologies to ensure compliance
Advanced knowledge and fluency in the use of circuit analysis and simulation tools such as MathCad, PSpice and Matlab/SIMULINK
Advanced knowledge and fluency in the use of schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium
Experience working on diverse product development teams under design controls
Experience in performing feasibility engineering to access solutions
Experience requirement is for direct hands-on design in one or more areas of advanced electrical design (e.g. digital embedded design, analog and signal processing design or power supply and system design.)
Experience in performing electronic device design to requisite standards (e.g. medical, military or commercial)
Experience working in a structured development process
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Understanding of biomedical requirements, software requirements and medical instrument safety requirements
Must be capable of domestic and international travel for test labs and supplier visits
Structured problem solving / root cause analysis
Experience with GMP and operating in a 21 CFR 820 compliant work environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
