Chief Operating Officer

CommUnityCare of Austin, Texas, has exclusively retained AMN Healthcare to lead the national search for a results-oriented and execution-focused executive to serve as its next Chief Operating Officer (COO). This critical senior executive leadership role is responsible for the strategic and operational performance of all CUC health centers, focusing on driving operational excellence and ensuring equitable access for a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

Establish Credibility and Build Foundational Relationships: Quickly establish professional and personal credibility with the CUC Board, executive team, providers, and frontline staff. Become a visible, engaged, transparent, and trusted leader
Assess and Design a Scalable Operational Model: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of all ambulatory operations. Design and begin implementing a standardized, scalable operating model to support future growth and strategic initiatives
Drive Measurable Improvements in Patient Access: Identify and execute high-impact initiatives to improve key access metrics (e.g., appointment availability, wait times) and enhance the overall patient experience
Strengthen Operational Leadership and Team Engagement: Assess the operational leadership structure and build a cohesive, high-performing team. Champion initiatives that improve staff engagement, development, and retention
Advance Value-Based Care Readiness: Partner with clinical and financial leaders to align operational workflows and systems to support value-based care models and ensure seamless integration across the care continuum

Required

A Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field is required
A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in ambulatory, outpatient, or medical group practice operations
Significant experience in large-scale medical group or ambulatory practice management is essential
A proven track record as a 'builder' who has designed and implemented operational infrastructure to support strategic growth and transformation
Demonstrated success in leading performance improvement initiatives using data analytics and methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, particularly HRSA and Joint Commission standards

Preferred

Experience within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or other complex safety-net system is strongly preferred
