Underwriting Assistant - Ohio

Responsibilities

Handle transactions by processing through systems and/or correspondence via mail or on-line systems
Examine and process applications, renewals, endorsements and cancellations. Accept or reject based on eligibility, accuracy and completeness
Interpret Plan Rules and manuals
Perform all Certification and Complaint activities
Search for and investigates information contained in files, inserts additional data on file records, completes reports, keeps files current and supplies information from file data or removes files upon request
Process outgoing automobile insurance assignments, incorporating the appropriate assignment notices to the application and Plan files
Contact producers regarding incomplete applications or other inquiries
Respond to telephone inquiries, correspondence and complaints from agents, insureds, and companies
Read incoming material and sorts according to file system
Coordinate the Plans annual meeting correspondence, proxy notices and corresponding circulars

Required

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Two-year degree from a technical school helpful
2 or more years of related experience and/or training
Must have knowledge of office support software
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) to manage work
Advanced skills using MS Excel
Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals
Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail
Demonstrate excellent organizational skills
Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment
Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by being able to follow directions and interpret customer needs

Preferred

Knowledge of the insurance industry, particularly automobile insurance, preferred
