Responsibilities

Apply mathematical and computer science methodologies to understand biological structure and function
Conduct research in brain mapping and visualization, focusing on automatic identification, detection, modeling, and measurement of anatomic and functional features within brain scans
Develop and validate biologically relevant models from complex MRI data
Demonstrate programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, Matlab, Java, and R
Secure external funding and contribute to collaborative research efforts within and outside the USC community

Required

Minimum 2+ years experience in mathematical modeling, biomedical image analysis, statistical analysis, bioinformatics, big data, multimodal MRI, methods development in MRI, or data mining techniques
Skilled at applying mathematical and computer science methodologies in order to understand biological structure and function
Experience in brain mapping and visualization with the focus on the ability to automatically identify, detect, model and measure anatomic and functional features within brain scans
Experience in the field of medical imaging as it pertains to the computerized analysis of 3D medical images of brain
Extensive programming skills in several languages, such as C++, Python, Matlab, Java, R
Substantial experience in developing and validating biologically relevant models from complex MRI data
Internationally recognized for technical and mathematical sophistication, as demonstrated by first-author publications in premier medical imaging conferences and journals
PhD degree in Computer Science, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with a strong background in interdisciplinary computational research
Received rigorous training in the elements of modern neuroimaging, including neuroscience, image acquisition, image processing, computational modeling, and informatics
Deep knowledge of the current challenges and state-of-the-art techniques for structural brain mapping, particularly data analysis, modeling, statistics, and visualization with large scale magnetic resonance imaging datasets
Extensive background in computational tool development using machine learning and interactive 3D visualization approaches
Substantial experience with research software development, dissemination, and training
Exceptional publication track record
Demonstrated ability to secure external funding
Commitment to collaborative research efforts both within and outside the USC community

Preferred

Expertise in diffusion MRI tractography, microstructure imaging, brain lesion segmentation, and preclinical imaging
