Responsibilities

Primary function is to lead the deal closing process ensuring successful execution and funding for bilateral, club and syndicated transactions

Coordinate pre-closing requirements with internal and external teams, proactively addressing outstanding items to meet scheduled closing deadlines

Ensure proper registration of transactions within SMBC’s credit system

Serve as the primary liaison with sponsors, borrowers, agent banks, counsel, and loan operations

Proactively facilitate the resolution of outstanding items with the deal origination team to meet the scheduled closing date

Collaborate with the KYC Client Management team to ensure full onboarding of entities before closing

Periodically request post-closing deliverables from external parties

Support the Team Lead on high-level projects and initiatives

Mentor and train junior staff, fostering a high-performance culture in a fast-paced, market-driven environment

Required

Bachelor's degree with 5-7+ years of relevant experience in deal execution including the ability to coordinate across Capital Markets, Credit, KYC and Operations

Deep understanding of lending products and related credit documentation

Strong decision-making skills with the ability to identify, escalate and resolve complex issues

Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities under tight deadlines

Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and collaboration skills

Proficiency in senior loan financings, project finance transactions, and related credit agreement terms

Willingness to learn and master SMBC's proprietary systems

Preferred

Spanish fluency (written and verbal) a plus
