Director, Engineering (Data Centers)

The Director of Engineering will manage the design, development, and delivery of engineering systems that support the company's data center infrastructure, focusing on innovations in power, cooling, and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Manage the engineering design and technical execution of hyperscale data center projects from early design through commissioning
Oversee the coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure high reliability, scalability, and energy efficiency
Partner with customers, development, construction, and operations teams to align engineering solutions with project and business objectives
Support the implementation of innovative cooling and power solutions, including liquid cooling and high-density designs
Assist with developing long lead equipment selection, pipeline, strategy and specifications
Work with external engineering and design partners to ensure quality, cost control, and adherence to project requirements
Help establish engineering standards, design guidelines, and technical best practices for the platform
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance performance and sustainability
Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and technically rigorous culture

Required

7-10 years of engineering experience with a focus on data centers, critical infrastructure, or large-scale building systems
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering field (Master's preferred)
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering design efforts for mission-critical facilities
Strong technical knowledge of power distribution, cooling systems, and reliability design
Experience managing external engineering and design consultants (e.g., WSP, AECOM, Syska, ESD, JB&B, etc.)
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and other industry regulations
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate technical solutions into business context
Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities with attention to detail
