Responsibilities

Direction and oversight of the educational curriculum and maintaining program compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards including curriculum development, trainee evaluation and feedback, policy development and implementation, monitoring duty hours and trainee wellness, and assessing the clinical competency of each trainee
Approximately 60% administrative time contingent upon overall percent effort of program and associate program directors
Operational oversight on a variety functions, including clinical rotations, didactics, assessment, advising, psychotherapy training, research, and scholarship
Lead a mission-driven recruitment and selection of residents into the residency training program
Operational oversight for residents’ comprehensive clinical educational experience
Create and engage in high-quality educational programs
Strategic planning and development in graduate medical education
Operational oversight on resident well-being
Operational oversight on resident recruitment, orientation, training, duty hours, and evaluations
Operational compliance with ACGME standards of curriculum, trainee competency, evaluation and feedback, and policy development and implementation
Serve as a national leader for innovative training models in psychiatric education
Coordinate with clinical leadership across affiliate training sites to ensure compliance
Provide clinical services and direct supervision of residents within a clinical site based on department needs and clinical interests and expertise
Attend Psychiatry Department Grand Rounds, Social Justice Forums, and Department Matters meetings; provide periodic service specific Grand Rounds
Represent the Psychiatry Department and residency program on committees and at meetings as appropriate
Participate in annual faculty merit review and mid-year performance evaluation processes
Collaborate with clinical and research division leaders to embed high-quality and innovative clinical and scholarly activities in the residency training program

Required

At the time of application, candidates must have an MD or related degree and be board certified in general psychiatry and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board
Three (3) or more years of psychiatry education program leadership, administration, and teaching in an ACGME accredited training programs
Demonstration of outstanding academic accomplishments and trajectory which may include innovative educational program development, excellence in teaching, clinical leadership, or research
Multicultural competency in working with patients of color, patients from all economic classes, and international patients
Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and to professional integrity
Desire to continue to grow as a professional and committed to excellence and lifelong learning
