Virginia Commonwealth University - College of Engineering is inviting applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering. The successful candidate will focus on Robotics and Autonomous Systems Engineering, teaching core courses, and developing new courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with faculty from MNE and other departments (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering) to develop robotics or autonomous systems for multiple applications

Play a leading role in developing new courses in robotics, AI-driven automation, and advanced manufacturing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels

Teach undergraduate and graduate core courses and develop new courses in these areas

Integrate robotics, controls, and AI/ML

Required

Candidate must have a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a related area with expertise in robotics and AI

Candidates at the Associate Professor ranks are expected to have a well-developed research program and extramural funding

Demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels

Ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences
